Goods Inspection

A goods inspector is an expert authorized by Finland Chamber of Commerce, who will give a written statement on a defect in an object or service or the condition of specified goods on request.

A goods inspector is a professional in his field. He has at least ten years´ experience of demanding tasks in that particular field.

There are goods inspectors in almost every field

Each of Finland´s about 240 goods inspectors is authorized to act in a special field. These special fields include for example cars, machines and appliances, construction work and materials, food products, textiles and load and transport damages. In all, there are tens of special fields. Each goods inspector can act anywhere in Finland and even abroad.

The aim is to prevent and solve disputes

A statement on a defect in an object or the value of it given by an impartial expert, who is authorized and supervised by Finland Chamber of Commerce, will prevent disputes from arising. Also, it can help when negotiations have reached a deadlock.

Often, goods inspection is performed for a trial. An impartial expert opinion has a great significance in the court´s decision-making.

Goods inspectors are supervised

The Chamber of Commerce has authorized goods inspectors since 1962. Special regulations apply to the activity of goods inspectors. For instance, their impartiality is strictly prescribed in the regulations. A special inspection report will be prepared on every inspection. The goods inspectors´ activity is supervised by the Committee of Goods Inspectors of each Chamber of Commerce.
